The Kinark Outdoor Centre (KOC) provides children and youth with a special needs diagnosis, and their families, the opportunity to try new activities in a supported camp environment.
Our year-round camping facility is designed to deliver a menu of recreational and therapeutic respite programs primarily for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. We have a rich history in residential camping, outdoor education, recreational programming, and community building. From skill development, family enrichment, social recreation, respite, and adventure-based experiences, the KOC offers high-quality programming and once-in-a-lifetime experiences in a safe, well-supported and natural environment.
Additional fee-for-service outdoor recreation and community building programs are available for schools, faith-based organizations and therapeutic groups. Funds generated by these programs help to support our specialized programs, meals and the camp infrastructure.
The KOC offers a strength-based care approach and encourages the discovery of campers’ abilities and talents. With our program principles, models, outcomes and program pedagogy, we can work with your group to develop a program that suits your needs, as an individual, family or group.
With an extensive variety of education and experience in both the outdoors and working with children in a care capacity, our staff is dedicated to providing high-quality programs and support to KOC visitors.
The KOC welcomes approximately 4,000 people every year. While many of our visitors attend autism respite programs, we also design customized programs for groups such as community groups, Children’s Aid Societies, schools, faith-based organizations, specialized camps and children’s mental health.
The Kinark Outdoor Centre (KOC) is operated by Kinark Child and Family Services.
